AmeriCorps VISTA roundtable

Today Youth Rebuilding New Orleans was honored to host a roundtable discussion featuring Corporation for National and Community Service CEO Wendy Spencer and several Tulane AmeriCorps VISTAs, including Jack Styczynski of YRNO. Our Executive Director Will Stoudt had the opportunity to show Ms. Spencer around our South Salcedo rebuild site and tell her about YRNO’s mission. We were so happy to represent the city of New Orleans, Tulane, the AmeriCorps VISTA program and YRNO for such an esteemed guest!!!! Open House

Thanks to the folks who came out to YRNO’s Open House today at 316 S. Salcedo St. in Mid-City. A local educator will soon become the owner of this beautifully restored, three bedroom, two bathroom house, so spread the word to your teacher friends! Will talks with visitors on the back deck.   Our penguin mascot oversees Will’s balloon management skills.

Service fair fun!

Last week, Youth Rebuilding New Orleans was in two places at once, recruiting students who want to work with us. Will and Abby were at the Brown Foundation service fair while Jack was at the Tulane Making a Difference service fair. YRNO…aiming for omnipresence! Students sign up at Brown.

Happy Hour Benefit, Compliments of Dirty Coast

On Friday, August 23, Dirty Coast held an “After Hours Happy Hour” benefiting YRNO, with 20% of proceeds going to our volunteer organization. That ended up being $325! Located at 329 Julia Street, Dirty Coast is a locally-owned shop, with more than 80 unique designs for their t-shirts and posters. These designs are reflective of the culture, values and pride of New Orleans residents. Creative Director Blake Haney is passionate about supporting local groups, and we were thrilled to have him get involved with us! What a crowd!   A line at the register.   Everybody loves YRNO!   Dvhante […]
