Youth Rebuilding New Orleans is proud to announce a new partnership providing Work Based Learning experiences for trainees at New Orleans Job Corps. Through the partnership, YRNO provides on-the-job training for apprentices in the carpentry field, as well as opportunity for leadership in supervising and teaching volunteers. YRNO Funding News: Rooms to Go and Give NOLA Day!

The team here at Youth Rebuilding New Orleans is excited to announce two huge donations! On Tuesday, May 2, while 30 Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy students and 12 Miami Dade College students volunteered in Hollygrove and on St. Ann Street, donations rolled in for Give NOLA Day 2017, and YRNO received an incredible donation from Rooms To Go as well.   As part of Rooms To Go’s Covington Store Grand Opening, Rooms To Go donated a portion of opening day sales to Youth Rebuilding New Orleans. For the “spring break season” from late February through March, YRNO was again lucky enough to host and work with hundreds of young people volunteering from around the country to further engage youth in the betterment of the New Orleans community. Update on YRNO Tornado Relief

Six weeks ago on February 7th, a massive tornado struck homes in New Orleans East, leaving hundreds of homeowners struggling with damaged or destroyed homes, without the resources to start yet another rebuilding process. This was the 2nd natural disaster to hit south Louisiana in the past year, and many homeowners were now faced with their 2nd or 3rd attempt at rebuilding. YRNO Tornado Relief

On Tuesday, February 7th, 2017 New Orleans East was hit by a massive tornado, destroying 940 homes in the area. As a nonprofit rebuilding organization, we recruit and train thousands of youth volunteers each year for moments like this tornado, and YRNO has already received over 20 inquiries and requests for help homeowners with limited means to rebuild. We need donations and volunteers to continue this work. Service Learning activities kick off 2017

Thanks to support from the Joe W. and Dorothy Dorsett Brown Foundation, YRNO’s mission to engage youth in the betterment of the New Orleans community has grown in the past few years to include school partnerships for service learning activities. This school year, in partnership with the Brown Foundation, YRNO is coordinating service learning at ReNEW Accelerated High School, Jesuit High School, Livingston Collegiate, and Holy Rosary Academy. YRNO and Rooms To Go Deliver Relief for Baton Rouge Flood Victims

In the weeks leading up to the holidays, Baton Rouge families are still working to rebuild after this summer’s historic flooding. YRNO was approached by Rooms To Go to help facilitate a donation day in Baton Rouge, and on November 12, thirty families received brand new furniture for their homes from Rooms To Go. Donated items included couches, dinette sets, beds, and other much-needed furniture. Youth Rebuilding Baton Rouge

In the weeks since the devastating floods in the Baton Rouge area, YRNO has been mobilizing volunteers and staff to help homeowners gut and rebuild. Tomorrow, YRNO is facilitating a furniture donation day in partnership with Rooms To Go and St. Vincent de Paul of Baton Rouge. Local high school volunteers are heading out at 7am to start unloading the furniture at 8:30, and if you would like to volunteer, please email maggie@yrno.com. Thank you Rooms To Go for your generosity and St. Vincent de Paul for your expertise!
