Ole Miss Stamps Scholars

Today we had a group of students from Ole Miss volunteering at our St. Ann Street properties. The Stamps Scholars were led by Mandeville native Kathryn James, who’s hosting them for the weekend. The weather was still on the chilly side, but they got things warmed up quickly on site! Update, 3/5/2015: The Stamps Foundation web site published thoughts from some of the participants. Parallel parking?     Making it neat.     Setting it down.   Ya got me!   Traelle shows how it’s done.   Up close and personal.   Clearing debris.   Goin’ back in.   In […]

Sci Academy…plus

Today we had a group of volunteers from Sci Academy braving the cold at our St. Ann Street properties, as well as a couple of chaperones from Rustic Pathways prior to their group working with us next month. As you can see below, some helped clearing debris from 2754 while others broke it down at 2753. Thanks to all! Jack greets the group in his fly $5 kicks.     Getting the necessary tools.     Danielle gets a hand.     Whatcha lookin’ at?     Emily and Marc pitch in.     Megan’s purple power.     Bend […]

Xavier University

Today we had a group of Xavier University students volunteering with us at our St. Ann Street properties. Last month, William and Jack went to Dr. Adrian Woods’ class and spoke to them about YRNO prior to their service day today. Check out the action below! Hammering with care.   Bend those knees!   Flashy colors.   Reach for it!   Prying it away.   Gloved and goggled.   Workin’ the corner.   Terrific trio.   Fab five.   Hand it here!   Lowering it gently.   Hauling it away.   Workin’ the wall.   Dynamic duo.   What’s got […]

Sid Jacobson JCC

Today we have a group from Sid Jacobson JCC escaping the brutal New York winter by volunteering with us for a second straight year (albeit with all new people). The troops are split between our St. Ann Street properties and our side project on South Scott Street. Witness some of the action below! Rarin’ to go.     Special delivery.     All smiles.     Taking their whacks.     Down the line.     (Out)back to back.   Aussie garbage toss?   The whole St. Ann crew.   Ladder raising at South Scott.   Do we both need […]

Yale Whiffenpoofs

Today we had The Whiffenpoofs from Yale University volunteering at our South Scott Street side project. The famed a cappella group even sang for us on site and William schmoozed with Brandon Sherrod–the Bulldog basketball player who took a year off to tour with the group and was profiled this week in the New York Times! Check out Brandon and the rest of the group singing in the video below, with pictures of their work following.   Peace!   Holding steady.   Doing the dirty work.   Hitting the high notes.

Wisner winners

YRNO is proud to be one of 62 recipients to receive a portion of $1.1 million dollars from the Edward Wisner Donation. At a press conference this morning, William spoke, Prince hugged Mayor Mitch Landrieu and Sam got the visual evidence! Peep those threads!

Double duty

Today we had groups from the Tulane Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity and Xavier’s Sigma Gamma Rho sorority volunteering at both our St. Ann Street properties and our South Scott Street side project, as evidenced below. Thanks y’all! Lead the way, Dvhante!   Transporting refuse.   Laser focus.   Tackling the pile.   Peace!   Would a bonfire be quicker?   I’ll wheel it away.   Coming and going.   Teamwork.   Tulane pride!   All smiles.   Taping it up.   Prince lends a hand.   Workin’ the corner.   Gettin’ paint.   Rollin’!
